The story

From chase
to abiding.

The Abide Movement was born in the wreckage of a faith built on feelings. This is how I learned to stop running after God and start remaining in Him.

The Chase

Front row every night. Hands up, tears down, journal full.

I grew up in church, but my real religion was the feeling. The bigger the worship moment, the louder the crowd, the more certain I was that God was near. I measured my faith by goosebumps, altar calls, and the size of the conference stage. I chased emotional highs like they were oxygen — and for a while, it worked. I looked spiritual, sounded spiritual, and genuinely believed I was close to God. But I was mostly close to the experience of God.

The Crash

Then came a Tuesday with no worship band.

No lights. No crowd. No goosebumps. Just me, my Bible, and a silence that felt more like absence than peace. I realized I had built a faith that could not survive an ordinary week. When the production stopped, so did my sense of connection. Panic set in. I tried to manufacture the feeling — better music, more prayer, another event — but the chase was losing its power. The crash was not a fall into sin; it was a collapse into honesty.

The Turn

John 15:4 wrecked me in the best way.

Jesus said, 'Remain in me, as I also remain in you.' Not perform more. Not chase harder. Not produce fruit to prove your worth. Just remain. That one word — abide — undid my performance, my burnout, and my need for a stage to feel close to God. I discovered that fruit is not something I manufacture through spiritual effort; it is something I receive by staying connected to the Vine. The pressure lifted. The invitation changed.

The Abide

Now I live attached instead of amped.

The Abide Movement is the message I wish someone had handed me during the crash. It is an honest, bold invitation to stop measuring your relationship with God by your last emotional high and start building a life that remains. Quieter, slower, deeper — and honestly, more alive than any conference rush ever made me. I now get to share that same freedom with churches, conferences, campuses, and anyone tired of white-knuckling their spiritual life.

The anchor

“Remain in me,
as I also remain in you.
No branch can bear fruit
by itself.”

John 15:4-5
